Some people are into pop culture.

I'm into what makes it pop!

I'm Kayla Park, a writer and copywriter finishing my English degree at Rutgers New Brunswick. I read constantly, novels, comics, graphic novels, scripts, and I'm almost always thinking about what makes a story work, and more importantly, what makes it translatable to an audience beyond the page.

I'm also a gamer and a lifelong animation obsessive. I'm the person who pauses the movie to explain why that scene in act two is actually doing three things at once.

I founded Matcha Melody, a pop-up drink brand I run entirely solo, handling everything from recipe development to social content to showing up and making it work in real time. Running it taught me that people can tell when a brand actually means it and when it doesn't.

I've done freelance copywriting for client websites, built spec campaigns for brands I genuinely admire, and had my bilingual poetry recognized at the West Chester University Poetry Conference, where a piece about immigration through superhero imagery won Honorable Mention.

I care about stories, how they're built, how they're sold, how they reach people. Development, editorial, brand voice, that's the work I want to be doing. The place where knowing every plot hole, every character motivation, every missed reference actually means something to the audience out there.
